Kamaldeep Momi, MD, an orthopedic surgeon specializing in neck and spine procedures, has performed the world's first procedure using Altus Spine's lumbar standalone interbody fusion system at the Fellowship Surgical Center in Mount Laurel, N.J.
Dr. Momi performed the surgery earlier this month, resulting in a successful two-level lumbar correction, according to a June 15 press release.
Dr. Momi was also heavily involved with Altus Spine's engineering team during the system's design and development process.
The ALIF system offers a choice of implant materials, footprints, lordotic angles and heights. Its screw fixation anchors provide stability. It has two material options, three implant footprints, four screw fixation anchors and five lordotic angles up to 25 degrees.
