Stephen Smith, MD, of Beacon Health System Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Ind., performed the first clinical case with Happe Spine's Integrate-C interbody fusion system.
Integrate-C is the first interbody fusion cage that's fully integrated with porosity and hydroxyapatite, Happe Spine said in an Aug. 14 news release. The company started a limited release of the device.
"The Integrate-C handled extremely well and went right to work," Dr. Smith said in the release. "The porosity immediately draws blood and any autologous factors into the implant to promote healing. Radiographic visibility was excellent, and once implanted the Integrate-C even looks like bone."
