Geoff Martha has been CEO of Medtronic since 2020. Here are six things to know about him:
1. Mr. Martha stepped into the top leadership role during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. During that time he made the company's proprietary ventilator designs available to manufacturers worldwide to help the increased demand. He earned a Fortune Change the World award for his efforts.
2. He joined Medtronic in 2011 as senior vice president of strategy and business development, according to his LinkedIn profile. Other roles he had include executive vice president and vice president of restorative therapies group and president.
3. Although the company was making plans to spin off its combined patient monitoring and respiratory interventions businesses, the move isn't happening yet, Mr. Martha said in January last year.
4. Mr. Martha succeeded Omar Ishrak as CEO.
5. Mr. Martha spent 14 years at GE Capital and four years at GE Healthcare before joining Medtronic.
6. Mr. Martha went to Pennsylvania State University in University Park for his bachelor's degree in finance.
