A smaller version of SI-Bone's iFuse bedrock granite implant system was launched, and the first cases with it were completed, the medtech company said May 7.
The 9.5mm diameter version of the implant was cleared by the FDA in January and was awarded the FDA's breakthrough device designation and a New Technology Add-on Payment by CMS, according to a news release.
The smaller implant for sacroiliac joint fusion and spinopelvic fixation is designed for patients with smaller anatomy and may allow for easier placement of stacked implants. The FDA's clearance for the device includes use in the S1 body of the sacrum and pediatric deformity.
