Spinal Tech

From leadership changes to new product launches, Globus Medical has had a busy 2024 so far.

Six notes:

1. Globus Medical named Keith Pfeil as COO, in addition to his role as CFO. In his new dual role, Mr. Pfeil will be responsible for driving Globus Medical's operational planning and financial performance management as well as overseeing all the day-to-day operational activities.

2. Globus Medical received FDA 510(k) clearance for its ExcelsiusFlex orthopedics robot. The ExcelsiusFlex is designed to provide stereotaxic guidance during orthopedic joint or spine surgeries.

3. ExcelsiusFlex was also approved for use with the Actify 3D total knee system. The Actify system pairs cementless reconstruction with operative efficiency and anatomic fit.

4. A judge has upheld a 2023 patent infringement verdict in favor of Globus Medical, according to court documents filed Aug. 13 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

5. Globus Medical responded to FDA concerns about its Excelsius GPS spine robot.

6. Globus Medical launched the Adira extreme lateral interbody fusion plate system. This is the company's first product launch that is compatible with its expanded lateral interbody portfolio. It has a simplified insertion workflow and a rigid coupling mechanism to help align plates over interbody spacers.
