Onward Medical's Arc-Ex spinal cord stimulator was recognized for its ability to help patients with spinal cord injuries. A study cited in the feature said that the device helped most patients recover some function and can be effective in patients with decades-long injuries.
Northwell Health's double neural bypass technology, also designed for spinal cord injury patients, was included. Chad Bouton invented the technology at the Northwell Health Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research in Manhasset, N.Y. It consists of microchips implanted to a patient's brain to connect thoughts to hand and arm movement.
