The first case with Medacta's MUST pedicle screw system and NextAR system was completed by Kevin McGuire, MD.
The procedure was done at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., according to an April 25 news release. The NextAR spine application tracks patient anatomy and is designed to help surgeons with planning and guidance in the operating room.
Dr. McGuire said in the release that the NextAR system fit into his workflow and that he had a positive outcome.
"While utilizing the 3D Direct option, I was able to seamlessly register the NextAR Platform to my intraoperative 3D scan, accurately place the pedicle screws and enjoy the ability to keep my eyes on my patient the entire time using the NextAR Smart Glasses," he said.
