Arya Nick Shamie, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at University of California Los Angeles Health System. He is affiliated with the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica (Calif.). He is also an assistant professor of orthopedic surgery and neurosurgery at UCLA. He is a recipient of the UC Irvine School of Medicine Award for Excellence in Research.
Dr. Shamie was certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery in 2003. His clinical interests include bone protein implant, cervical spine, laminectomy, metabolic bone disease, microsurgery, myelopathy, neuro endoscopy, rheumatoid arthritis, sciatica, osteoporosis, spinal tumor and stenosis.
Dr. Shamie earned his medical degree at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at St. Mary's Medical Center in San Francisco. He has completed two fellowships at UCLA School of Medicine — in spinal surgery and bone research.
