Robert L. Tatsumi, MD, is an orthopedic spine surgeon practicing at Pacific Spine Specialists in Tualatin, Ore. He also provides care at Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center, also in Tualatin, and Providence Portland (Ore.) Hospital. He is a member of the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery, North America Spine Society, American Academy of Orthopaedic Society and North Pacific Orthopaedic Society.
Dr. Tatsumi's clinical interests include artificial disc replacement, minimally invasive surgery, spinal deformities, degenerative spine, spinal surgery and spine injections. He is also actively involved in biomechanical and clinical research studies. He recently published a paper regarding radiation safety during a minimally invasive lumbar spine procedure. His research has been awarded by various professional organizations, including the Cervical Spine Research Society and Western Orthopaedic Association.
Dr. Tatsumi is an instructor for minimally invasive and disc replacement technology, such as DePuy Synthes' ProDisc, a total disc replacement technology platform. He is also the team spine physician for the University of Portland's soccer/basketball teams.
Dr. Tatsumi earned his medical degree at Oregon Health & Sciences University in Portland, where he also completed his orthopedic surgery residency. He completed a fellowship in spine surgery at LA Spine Institute in Santa Monica, Calif.
