Donald S. Corenman, MD, an orthopedic spine surgeon at The Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colo., has completed research on the effects of failed less invasive spine surgery on lumbar spinal fusion outcomes.
For the study, 47 qualified patients were split into two groups based upon history of prior less invasive spine surgery — a prior LISS group and a non-prior LISS group. Around 40 months after their lumbar spinal fusion, patients were given a questionnaire.
The results of the questionnaire suggest patients who underwent failed less invasive surgery prior to lumbar spinal fusion did not have inferior outcomes compared to patients who id not have prior LISS.
Dr. Corenman is a neck and spine specialist. He is completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Detroit Medical Center and then completed a fellowship in spinal disorders at the University of Colorado in Denver.
