The first clinical use of Biomet's Signature Patient Specific glenoid instrumentation in the United States has been successful.
The system was introduced in February 2013 and is used in conjunction with Biomet's Comprehensive shoulder system. The Signature glenoid guide uses CT data and a proprietary algorithm to match each patient's anatomy and facilitate proper positioning of the glenoid component. A preoperative planning tool allows the surgeons to make necessary adjustments required for each patient, such as component size, inclination and version.
