Sarasota (Fla.) Memorial opened a radiation oncology center this week as part of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System's planned $220 million Cancer Institute, YourObserver.com reports.
The $27 million facility features two Varian TrueBeam linear accelerators that target small tumors of the spine, head and neck, among others.
The devices use real-time imaging for improved accuracy, which result in faster treatment and shorter recovery times for patients.
SMHCS main campus is building an eight-story oncology tower that is set to open in fall 2021.
