St. Cloud (Minn.) Surgical Center broke ground Oct. 13 on an $11 million renovation that is expected to be completed within one year, local radio station KNSI reports.
The project will add 7,500 square feet and two operating rooms to the facility to accommodate more spine and total joint replacement procedures as demand for these surgeries increases in the area.
"We did some of our highest number of [total joint] cases in May when we returned to doing surgery after the COVID shutdown by the governor, and then spine cases kept growing," CEO Darci Nagorski told the radio station.
Ms. Nagorski expects to complete 500 total joint surgeries by the end of 2020 and more than 600 next year.
The project is set to be completed by September 2021.
