Work on a 32,000-square-foot medical office is expected to begin next month adjacent to West Coast Joint and Spine Surgery Center in El Dorado Hills, Calif., the Mountain Democrat reports.
The project aims to attract more "higher acuity services," to the region, Brian Kelly Hunt, MD, medical director of the 22-physician surgery center, told the publication.
"It's just been a long time coming that we in El Dorado Hills and El Dorado County have higher levels of care locally, especially for the type of procedures we’re doing," Dr. Hunt said. "That's the goal, to bring these services here rather than in Sacramento or Mercy San Juan or Roseville."
Dr. Hunt's pain management practice, Gastroenterology Medical Clinic, and Kristine Burke, MD, medical director for True Health Center for Functional Medicine, will occupy half of the building.
The remaining 15,000 square feet has not been filled, but Dr. Hunt aims to attract more specialists, particularly in cardiology. He plans to partner with the facility's tenants to ensure physicians are committed to staying in the region.
The medical office is expected to open in November.
