Rural Idaho hospital installs robot for knee, hip replacements

Robotics

Gooding, Idaho-based North Canyon Medical Center purchased a Mako robot to assist orthopedic surgeons with knee and hip replacements, KMVT reports.

Three things to know:

1. Mako assists surgeons with proper implant placement and guards against soft tissue and ligament damage.

2. The hospital scheduled its first three surgeries with the Mako robot for Oct. 15.

3. NCMC announced last month that current COO J'Dee Adams will take over as CEO this fall as the hospital plans to expand services in the Magic Valley region in south-central Idaho.
