Virginia hospital acquires surgical robot

Woodbridge, Va.-based Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center acquired a da Vinci XI Surgical System it plans to use for minimally invasive surgery, the Potomac Local reports.

The system can be used for general surgery, gynecology, cardiac procedures and urology, among others.

Sentara Northern Virginia was recognized as a center of excellence for robotic surgery by Surgical Review Corp. in 2018.
