Louisiana hospital acquires Mako robot for knee replacements

Iberia Medical Center in New Iberia, La., recently installed the Mako robotic system for partial and total knee replacements, reports The Daily Iberian.

Three things to know:

1. Developed by Stryker, the Mako robotic arm assists surgeons with implant placement.

2. Surgeons can use the system to preoperatively plan surgeries with 3D imaging.

3. The Mako system is designed to protect soft tissue and ligaments from damage.
