Manassas, Va.-based Novant Health UVA Health System Prince William Medical Center recently implemented the Mako robotic system for partial and total knee replacements, according to Prince William Living.
Three things to know:
1. The Mako system enables surgeons to preoperatively plan procedures with 3D imaging and assists with implant placement.
2. Developed by Stryker, the Mako system costs about $1 million.
3. Notably, Mako is designed to protect soft tissue and ligaments from damage.
