Alexandria-based Central Louisiana Surgical Hospital is reportedly the first hospital in Central Louisiana to offer robotic-assisted total knee replacements, according to a June 26 KALB report.
The hospital installed the Mako robot, which assists surgeons plan procedures and guide them through the plan intraoperatively.
The device is designed to protect soft tissue and ligaments from damage.
Developed by Stryker, the robot is priced at about $1 million.
