Dr. Matthew Landfried performs New York hospital's 1st knee replacement with new robot

Rochester Regional Health's United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia, N.Y., recently acquired the ROSA Knee system, with Matthew Landfried, MD, the first surgeon to use the robot at the facility, The Batavian reports.

Three things to know:

1. ROSA Knee is equipped with 3D preoperative planning tools and intraoperative data on soft tissue and bone anatomy to improve bone cut accuracy and range of motion gap analysis.

2. Dr. Landfried practices with Genesee Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, a four-physician practice in Batavia, according to its website.

3. UMMC is one of four Rochester Regional Health hospitals to invest in the robotic system for knee replacements.
