Elon Musk debuted the Neuralink surgical robot during a presentation about the company with the same name, TechCrunch reports.
Once operational, the Neuralink robot will be used for neuroscience. The robot is separated into three main parts: the head, the body and the base. The head is similar to a helmet. It stabilizes a patient's head during surgery and features embedded cameras and sensors that map a patient's brain and ensures proper needle placement.
Mr. Musk formed Neuralink to combat what he views as a potential threat to human life: artificial intelligence. While the short-term goal is to help medical issues affecting the brain, the company's long-term goal is to help humans keep up with advanced AI by linking the human brain to a computer.
