Since Aug. 1, 10 hospitals and surgical practices have added or announced plans to introduce robotics:
1. Abrazo West Campus in Goodyear, Ariz., installed Stryker's Mako robot to augment hip and knee replacement services.
2. Rome, Ga.-based Floyd Medical Center could be getting a robotic surgical system as early as November.
3. Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Erlanger Orthopaedic Institute introduced Stryker's Mako robot and Smith+Nephew's Navio system to assist surgeons in hip and knee replacements.
4. MemorialCare Miller Children's & Women's Hospital Long Beach (Calif.) became the first pediatric hospital in the state to acquire the ExcelsiusGPS robotic system for spine surgery.
5. Edinburg, Texas-based Cornerstone Regional Hospital acquired the TSolution One Total Knee Application.
6. Lima (Ohio) Memorial Health System debuted two Medtronic robots for spine and brain surgeries.
7. Hillsboro, Ohio-based Highland District Hospital acquired Smith+Nephew's CORI Surgical System.
8-9. Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and Glens Falls (N.Y.) Hospital installed Mako robotic arms.
10. Arkansas Surgical Hospital in Little Rock purchased a Rosa Knee system to assist orthopedic surgeons in total knee replacements.
