Texas hospital adds robotic spine surgery

Robotics

Medical City Fort Worth (Texas) began offering robotic spine surgery in October, D Magazine reports.

Three things to know:

1. The hospital recently installed Globus Medical's ExcelsiusGPS robot, designed to assist surgeons with the accurate implantation of pedicle screws.

2. The robot's latest update allows surgeons to navigate entire lateral lumbar interbody fusion and transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion procedures, according to the device company.

3. Medical City Fort Worth also provides robotic-assisted hip and knee replacements with Stryker's Mako system.
