Robert Browning, MD, chief of surgery at Lakewood Ranch (Fla.) Medical Center, has completed more than 500 robotic surgeries with the da Vinci Xi system.
Dr. Browning performs general and colorectal surgeries with the robot, which can lead to shorter hospital stays, less post-op pain and quicker recovery.
He has been "instrumental in implementing and growing our robotics program," Andy Guz, Lakewood Ranch Medical Center CEO, said in a recent news release.
Designed by Intuitive Surgical, Da Vinci Xi provides surgeons with multiquadrant access and is used for complex procedures in cancer, urology, gynecology and gastroenterology.
