Texas hospital expands surgical portfolio with robot

Robotics

Covenant Health Plainview (Texas) has expanded its orthopedic surgery offerings with the addition of ROSA, the robotic surgical system, MyPlainview reported May 21.

The hospital will use the ROSA system — which assists surgeons in precision and accuracy — for knee surgeries and may expand it to other procedures in the future.

Plainview’s orthopedic team also recently introduced the Mymobility program, which uses a smartphone and smartwatch application to customize care for patients.

Covenant Health Plainview's addition of ROSA is an effort to bring advanced medicine to the area's less-populated, rural community, MyPlainview said.

"With our Mymobility program and now by adding the ROSA robot, puts us on the cutting-edge of orthopedics right now. You just can’t find anything better than the service we provide right here in Plainview," surgeon Benjamin Farr, MD, said.
