Medtronic's Mazor X is the first dedicated robot-assisted spine surgery platform launching in Canada, the company announced Oct. 25.
The platform is a fully integrated platform for surgical planning, workflow and navigation. It integrates with the StealthStation navigation system and uses 3D-imaging to guide planning and visualization. Mazor X is also compatible with Medtronic's Midas Rex high-speed drill systems.
"The integration of navigation and robotic technologies into one platform is an exciting advancement in the field of spinal surgery," Scott Paquette, MD, president of the Canadian Spine Society, said in a news release. "Mazor represents an incredible future of possibilities in spinal robotics, which I believe will greatly contribute to reduced risk for patients."
