Spinal device company Accelus recently appointed Kevin Foley, MD, as its first chief robotics officer.
Dr. Foley is chair of the Semmes Murphey Clinic in Memphis, Tenn., and a professor of neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery and biomedical engineering at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis.
In his new role, Dr. Foley will lead the company through its upcoming launch and development of its Remi robotic navigation system, which assists surgeons with screw placement in lumbar spine fixations. Dr. Foley contributed to the system's development and performed his first case using the system in December 2021, Accelus said April 18.
