Surgeons at the Allegheny Health Network Neuroscience Institute in Pittsburgh completed their 1,000th case with Synaptive's Modus V robotic system.

The hospital first used the system in 2018, according to a July 5 news release. Richard Williamson, MD, Alexander Yu, MD, and Jody Leonardo, MD, were among the first in the world to use the technology. The system is used for brain and spine procedures.

"This transformative technology for cranial and spinal procedures has enabled our surgeons to provide the most innovative care to our patients, offering better clinical outcomes and overall quality of life," Donald Whiting, MD, neurosurgeon and chair of the AHN Neuroscience Institute, said in the release.
