MicroPort Navibot has recieved FDA 510(k) approval of its first robot-assisted platform for orthopedic use, MicroPort Orthopedics said Aug. 8.
The Skywalker system will initially be used for total knee replacements and is compatible with the Evolution medial-pivot total knee system, according to a MicroPort Orthopedics news release. It has preoperative planning capabilities and assists surgeons with implant alignment during surgery.
MicroPort Navibot, based in Foxborough, Mass., plans to develop other orthopedic applications, according to the news release.
