Lon M. Baronne, II, MD, has reached his 600th case using Globus Medical's ExcelsiusGPS since receiving it in 2018, KLFY reported Dec. 13.
Dr. Baronne helped develop the robot and is reportedly the most experienced surgeon with the system. The robot helps him with minimally invasive surgeries. He told KLFY the robot helps cut operating room time 30 percent to 50 percent, and he can operate with smaller incisions.
Dr. Baronne, of Lafayette-based Louisiana Orthopedic Specialists, began using the robot in May 2018. His group was one of the first in Louisiana to get the system.
