The North Canyon Medical Center in Gooding, Idaho, has added Globus Medical's robotic spinal surgery navigation system, Excelsius GPS, to its practice, according to a Jan. 16 report from Twin Falls, Idaho, CBS affiliate KMVT.
The hospital received a multimillion-dollar investment from an undisclosed source, according to the report, which was used in part to acquire the Excelsius GPS.
The Globus medical robot can reduce surgery time from three hours to 45 minutes. There are only 45 Excelsius GPS robots in use in the country, according to the report.
