4 places adding orthopedic robots

Robotics

Becker's reported on four places adding orthopedic robots in August.

1. Coastal Orthopedics, based in Bradenton, Fla., invested in two new surgical robots to assist in total and partial knee replacement procedures at its outpatient surgery center. The new robotic-assisted systems are Cori, by Smith+Nephew, and Velys, by DePuy Synthes.

2. The University of Alabama Birmingham added the ExcelsiusGPS spine robot. The hospital is the only one in the city to use the robot. It was added on the heels of the hospital's milestone 20,000 total robotic procedures, which was surpassed earlier this year.

3. Phoenix-based Abrazo Health is growing its robotic spine program and added the ExcelsiusGPS to its Glendale, Ariz.-based Arrowhead Campus. This is the second ExcelsiusGPS robot the health system bought. In 2021, Abrazo West Campus in Goodyear, Ariz. added the robot and surpassed 100 cases with it in 2022.

4. Maysville, Ky.-based Meadowview Regional Medical Center has added a Mako robot for partial and total knee replacements. Meadowview's orthopedic care center received the robot on Aug. 16 and completed two surgeries.
