Greenville, N.C.-based ECU Health Medical Center received its first two accreditations from the Surgical Review Corporation.
The center was named a "Center of Excellence" in robotic surgery as well as minimally invasive surgery, according to a Sept. 5 news release from ECU Health.
The Surgical Review Corporation also named four "Surgeons of Excellence" in robotic surgery at the center: Matthew Collins, MD; Johnathan Hamilton, MD; Grainger Lanneau, Jr., MD; and Hugh Reeves, MD.
Additionally, three physicians at ECU Health Medical Center were named "Surgeons of Excellence" in minimally invasive surgery: Carlos Anciano Granadillo, MD; James Speicher, MD; and Dean Yamaguchi, MD.
To receive accreditation from the Surgical Review Corporation, organizations must meet certain requirements, including surgical volumes, facility equipment, clinical pathways and standardized operating procedures, an emphasis on patient education and continuous quality assessment, the release said.
