Here are 30 hospitals and practices adding spine and orthopedic robots in 2023:

Note: This is not an exhaustive list.

1. C. Kris Hanby, MD, performed the first robot-assisted total knee replacement in northern Arkansas using Zimmer Biomet's Rosa robot at Precision Surgical Center of Northwest Arkansas in Rogers.

2. Tallahassee (Fla.) Orthopedic Clinic added Zimmer Biomet's Rosa Knee System to its facility to aid joint replacement procedures.

3. The North Canyon Medical Center in Gooding, Idaho, has added Globus Medical's robotic spinal surgery navigation system, Excelsius GPS, to its practice.

4. Brooke Army Medical Center has addedMedtronic's Mazor X Stealth Edition guidance system for spinal surgery.

5. Benefis Health System in Great Falls became the first system in Montana to utilize the Zimmer Biomet Rosa Knee System surgical robot.

6. Tulsa Bone and Joint's Union Pines Surgery Center is the first ASC in Oklahoma to offer procedures with Mako SmartRobotics.

7. Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Ark., is the first in the region to use the Zimmer Biomet Rosa hip system. 

8. Price, Utah-based Castleview Hospital added robot-assisted knee and hip replacement surgery. The robot-assisted procedures will be performed using Zimmer Biomet's Rosa System.

 

9. Long Island Jewish Forest Hills Hospital in New York City has added a Stryker Mako robot for hip and knee replacements.

 

10. Goshen (Ind.) Orthopedics has become the only practice in the county to add a Mako robot for hip and knee replacements, and one of the select few in Northern Indiana. 

 

11. Gillette, Wyo.-based Powder Surgery Center is the first surgery center in the state to utilize the Rosa Knee robotic surgery assistant. 

12. Ithaca, N.Y.-based Cayuga Medical Center added Smith + Nephew's CORI surgical robot for total and partial knee replacements and revision knee joint surgery.

13. Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, Wis. added the Cori robot for knee surgeries.

14. Coastal Orthopedics, based in Bradenton, Fla., invested in two new surgical robots to assist in total and partial knee replacement procedures at its outpatient surgery center. The new robotic-assisted systems are Cori, by Smith+Nephew, and Velys, by DePuy Synthes.

15. The University of Alabama Birmingham added the ExcelsiusGPS spine robot. The hospital is the only one in the city to use the robot. It was added on the heels of the hospital's milestone 20,000 total robotic procedures, which was surpassed earlier this year.

16. Phoenix-based Abrazo Health is growing its robotic spine program and added the ExcelsiusGPS to its Glendale, Ariz.-based Arrowhead Campus. This is the second ExcelsiusGPS robot the health system bought. In 2021, Abrazo West Campus in Goodyear, Ariz. added the robot and surpassed 100 cases with it in 2022.

17. Maysville, Ky.-based Meadowview Regional Medical Center has added a Mako robot for partial and total knee replacements. Meadowview's orthopedic care center received the robot on Aug. 16 and completed two surgeries.

18. Resurgens Orthopaedics' Austell, Ga., location has become the first practice in the region to offer robotic assisted total knee replacements using Smith + Nephew's CORI Surgical System.

19. Fremont, Calif.-based Washington Hospital Healthcare System recently debuted Think Surgical's TMINI miniature robotic system.

20. Alabaster, Ala.-based Shelby Baptist Medical Center added the Mako robot system to assist in knee and hip procedures.

21. Oxford-based Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi completed its first total knee replacement with Zimmer Biomet's Rosa robot.

22. Greenwich (Conn.) Hospital performed its first total knee replacement surgery using robotic assistance.

23. Mercy Hospital in Rogers, Ark., added Medtronic's Mazor X spine robot.

24. San Jose, Calif.-based Good Samaritan Hospital added Zimmer Biomet's Rosa robot for total joint replacement procedures. 

25. Integris Health Edmond (Okla.) Hospital added a Stryker Mako robot for joint replacement procedures.

26. Baltimore-based Mercy Medical Center added Zimmer Biomet's PersonaIQ "smart implant" technology for knee replacement surgeries.

27. Jersey City (N.J.) Medical Center added the ExcelsiusGPS spine robot.

28. New Hartford-based Central New York Brain and Spine Neurosurgery added an ExcelsiusGPS robot for spine surgery in partnership with Rome (N.Y.) Health.

29. HCA Heart and Spine Hospital in Dallas added the Excelsius3D spine imaging system.

30. Homer, Alaska-based South Peninsula Hospital has added Stryker's Mako robotic system for total knee replacements.
