DePuy Synthes earned FDA 510(k) clearance for the Velys robot with unicompartmental knee replacements, the devicemaker said June 7.

The unicompartmental knee arthroplasty application is designed for medial and lateral procedures, according to a news release. It is compatible with the Sigma HP unicondylar knee system with the reusable Intuition instruments. The Velys robot will help surgeons with implant placement without a CT scan.

The Velys robot has been cleared for total knee replacements in 20 markets and has been used in more than 55,000 procedures.
