Hackensack (N.J.) University Medical Center has added the TMINI miniature robotic system for knee replacement surgery.
The handheld TMINI system, made by Think Surgical, is a wireless robot, according to a June 21 press release.
The device allows surgeons to operate with minimal equipment, taking up less space in the operating room, and replaces several instruments currently needed for knee replacements.
Physicians can use CT scans of the knee to create a 3D model specifically for each patient. The surgeon can then use the 3D model with the TMINI System to provide a robotically assisted total knee replacement procedure customized to the patient's knee anatomy.
