Surgical Robotics Technology named the winners of its 2024 Surgical Robotics Industry Awards, honoring industry leaders across five categories.
The 2024 awards were handed out in industry leadership, innovative startup, outstanding company, outstanding healthcare provider and groundbreaking technology, according to a June 26 news release from the publication.
Here are the winners for each category:
Industry leadership
Lucien Blondel, chief technology officer of Quantum Surgical, has more than 20 years working in various surgical specialties. He led research and development for the Rosa surgical robot, which is used for knee and shoulder replacements, the release said.
Innovative startup:
Medical Microinstruments' Symani Surgical System is the first robotic technology to address the scale and complexities of microsurgery and supermicrosurgery, the release said. The Symani was granted de novo classification by the FDA on April 8 and is the only commercially available robotic platform in the U.S. for reconstructive microsurgery.
Outstanding company
Moon Surgical is building a futurized operating room that is digitalized, efficient and sustainable, the release said. Maestro's digital surgical assistant has been used to successfully treat more than 250 patients globally.
Groundbreaking technology
Think Surgical's TMINI miniature robotic system enables accurate implant placement and accelerated uptake of orthopedic robotics following a CT-based three-dimensional surgical plan, the release said.
Outstanding healthcare provider
Chillicothe, Ohio-based Cohen Orthopedic is led by surgeon Brian Cohen, MD. Cohen Orthopedic uses Stryker's Mako robot for personalized surgical planning and guidance, and last year, Dr. Cohen completed his 2,000th procedure using the robot, the release said.
