Dalton, Ga.-based Hamilton Medical Center acquired Stryker's Mako system for total knee and hip replacements, according to TheChattanoogan.com.
What you should know:
1. HMC surgeons introduced the Mako in mid-July. It was used in a total hip replacement.
2. The technology enables surgeons to personalize procedures to a patient's specific diagnosis and anatomy, according to HMC orthopedic surgeon Mitch Frix, MD.
3. Mako also allows surgeons to make intraoperative modifications to the surgical plan.
