Rosa, Mako & more: Florida health system adds 13 robotic systems

Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based HCA East Florida acquired 13 surgical robots to be used for minimally invasive surgery.

The robots include daVinci Xi, Stryker's Mako, Zimmer Biomet's Rosa and Smith+Nephew's Cori, according to a June 8 news release. The new additions bring the health system's total number of robots to 42.

"This robotics acquisition speaks to the scale and strength of our HCA East Florida network as well as our commitment to driving innovation and safety across our hospitals," Charles Gressle, HCA East Florida Division president said in the news release.

The new robots will be used at the following facilities:

  • Highlands Regional Medical Center in Sebring
  • JFK Medical Center North Campus in West Palm Beach
  • Kendall Regional Medical Center in Miami
  • Mercy Hospital in Miami
  • Northwest Medical Center in Margate
  • Palms West Hospital in Loxahatchee
  • Plantation General Hospital in Plantation
  • St. Lucie Medical Center in Port St. Lucie
  • Raulerson Hospital in Okeechobee
  • University Hospital and Medical Center in Tamarac
  • Westside Regional Medical Center in Plantation
