California hospital fundraises almost $250K for orthopedic robot

Robotics

Fresno, Calif.-based Saint Agnes Medical Center has added Stryker's Mako robot for joint replacements, a local ABC affiliate reported June 10.

The robot creates a 3D-scan of a patient's anatomy to allow for a custom implant placement. Recently, Matt Knedel, MD, performed a knee replacement on a 77-year-old woman with the robot.

The Saint Agnes Foundation raised nearly $250,000 during the pandemic to help pay for the $1 million Mako.
