Georgia hospital adds patient-specific surgical robot

Robotics

Colquitt Regional Medical Center in Moultrie, Ga., added Stryker's Mako robot for total knee replacements.

Mako uses 3D imaging to help surgeons make patient-specific surgical plans. It utilizes imaging, AccuStop haptic technology and data analytics to assist surgeons. Franklin Davis Jr., MD, helped bring the robot to the hospital and is trained to use it.

"As an organization, we are always looking for the latest technology and techniques to implement," hospital CEO and President Jim Matney said in an Oct. 21 news release. "We are proud to be the first and only hospital in our region to offer this innovative technology."
