Surgeons from Fishers-based Central Indiana Orthopedics completed their 1,000th surgery with Stryker's Mako robot, according to the Hamilton County Reporter.
Jamie Kay, MD, completed the milestone procedure at Ascension St. Vincent Anderson Hospital, according to the Dec. 15 report. The Mako robot uses a 3D CT-based planning software to help surgeons prepare for cases. During surgery, the robot is designed to help surgeons make more accurate cuts and protect a patient's healthy bone.
"Being a Mako patient myself, it’s humbling to be able to offer the same pain relief to my patients that I experienced after I had my knee replacement with Mako technology," Dr. Kay told the newspaper. "Getting patients back to doing what they love is the ultimate goal."
