Robotics

Smith+Nephew's Cori surgical robot has extended its applications to include total hip replacements.

The robot now includes the devicemaker's RI.Hip Navigation software, which is designed for increased accuracy, according to a Jan. 26 news release. The software will be available for a limited number of hospitals and ASCs in the U.S., and commercial availability is planned later in 2022.

"The addition of RI.Hip Navigation on the Cori System further strengthens Smith+Nephew's Real Intelligence digital ecosystem and underscores our commitment to advancing clinical outcomes in total hip arthroplasty," executive vice president and general manager Randy Kilburn said in the release.
