Medical Device Tax Takes $97M in January

The countrywide first payment of the new 2.3 percent medical device tax totaled $97 million, according to Star Tribune. Twice monthly deposits are being made from device manufacturers' revenue, and the tax totals will be used to pay for federal healthcare reform measures, according to the report.

The tax took effect Jan. 1, and was received by vehement industry opposition.
