Medtronic selected University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center as the second site east of the Mississippi River for the Stealth Autoguide robotic guidance platform, according to a Nov. 11 press release.

The Stealth Autoguide can help a surgeon place an electrode or catheter or perform a biopsy with the robot aiding precision movements, the release said. The first case using the tool at UH was Nov. 10.

"The Stealth Autoguide provides us with an important, innovative tool to use for intricate brain procedures," Nick Bambakidis, MD, director of the UH Neurological Institute, said in the release. "This system enables us to precisely and reproducibly target lesions deep within the brain."
